August 23, 2012: With sadness we learned today that Professor Mojmír Povolný has died suddenly in his ninetieth year.
Professor Povolný was the leading representative of the Czechoslovak democratic exile and the last President of the Council of Free Czechoslovakia. He was an active member of SVU of long standing. His last major address was at the 2011 SVU meeting in New York. He was an inspiration to many and was very helpful particularly to young scholars. We will miss him.
